Through my work as a language interpreter, I’ve walked in and out of appointments alongside patients, across a wide range of departments within hospitals, medical centres and patient homes.
I’ve had the quiet privilege of witnessing the full journey: from diagnosis, to treatment, to advice, reassurance, and shared moments of understanding, challenges and sometimes frustration. I’ve accompanied patients all the way to theatre, supporting communication through language, and sometimes simply through my presence, especially when family weren’t authorised to be there.
I’ve learnt about countless conditions, diseases, and treatment options, but more importantly, I’ve witnessed the emotional weight of illness and its impa
ct on individuals and their families. I’ve shared quiet conversations in waiting rooms, moments of fear, hope, relief, and resilience.
For over 8 years I have attended thousands of appointments and every one of them has taught me something about health, humanity, and the power of being understood.
Now, as a qualified Holistic Health Coach, I can relate, understand and empathise with my clients even more, as a result of this experience.
